The purpose of this study is to examine male baby boomers` attitudes for retirement and the effects of their attitudes and retirement preparations on intent to social participations. We carried out the survey on 723 male baby boomers(397 former baby boomers and 326 latter baby boomers) about their retirement attitudes, retirement preparations, and intent to social participation in old age. The results of this study are as follows£º¨ç The attitudes towards retirement were in order of continuation, new beginning, rest, and imposed disruption. ¨è While retirement attitudes as imposed disruption were higher in former baby, retirement attitudes as new beginning were higher in latter baby boomers. Whereas retirement attitudes as rest or imposed disruption were higher in the higher educated, retirement attitudes as new beginning were higher in the lower educated. ¨é Present social participation, social retirement preparation, and retirement attitudes were significant influence factors of intent to social participation in old age. Finally, I suggested several implications for policy making for baby boomers and future research.
